creates site-responsive photographic artworks for hotels, spas, restaurants and architectural interiors — combining landscape photography, transparent materials and natural light.
From bespoke privacy films and luminous architectural interventions to collectible sculptural objects, each project is designed to transform throughout the day and create a distinctive relationship between image, space and sunlight!
LIGHT, IMAGE & ARCHITECTURE
My photographic work is designed to move beyond the conventional framed image and become part of the architecture itself.
Using transparent and translucent surfaces, backlit imagery and natural daylight, photographs can become luminous architectural elements — filtering views, defining spaces and creating changing atmospheres throughout the day.
Rather than functioning as static decoration, these works respond to their environment.
Natural light becomes an active material: revealing, transforming and projecting the image as the sun moves.
Applications include large-scale transparent artworks, illuminated photographic box, architectural glazing and site-specific installations for hospitality and interior spaces.
BESPOKE TRANSPARENT ART & PRIVACY FILMS
Malaïka Studio develops site-specific transparent photographic artworks for glass surfaces, windows and architectural partitions.
Created from original botanical and landscape photography, each artwork is printed onto transparent architectural film, allowing natural light to pass through the image while introducing colour, privacy and atmosphere into the space.
As sunlight changes throughout the day, the artwork evolves — projecting colour, softening views and creating temporary landscapes across floors, walls and surrounding surfaces.
This direction is currently being developed in collaboration with DecoFrost South Africa, combining my photographic work with their expertise in architectural window films and large-format applications.
Projects can be developed specifically for:
hotel lobbies and entrances, spa and wellness areas, glass partitions, restaurants and lounges, guest-room glazing, offices and architectural interiors.

COLLECTIBLE OBJECTS — BOOK VASE
Book Vase extends my photographic practice into collectible design.
Inspired by the archetype of a closed book, the transparent sculptural vessel contains a photographic landscape within its material structure.
When crossed by natural light, the image continuously changes — interacting with flowers and plants placed inside the vessel and projecting fragments of colour into the surrounding architecture.
The work explores the idea of a living archive: a landscape is photographed, preserved within an object, and then brought back to life through sunlight.

Book Vase is currently in prototype development, with larger-format editions and new sculptural forms being explored.
